Our Story
Dr. Maria Cristina Crespo-Smith founded Ostara Health to help overweight women achieve their fertility goals and embark on a healthy journey into parenthood. As a dedicated physician specializing in women's health and fertility care, Dr. Crespo-Smith became acutely aware of an issue often overlooked in traditional fertility treatments. Overweight women frequently face higher rates of fertility challenges compared to those at a healthier weight. Yet, despite these challenges, weight management solutions tailored to the unique needs of women seeking fertility treatment were scarce.
This gap in care inspired Dr. Crespo-Smith to take action. Combining her growing expertise in fertility care with a holistic approach to women's health, she launched Ostara Health, a clinic designed to empower women through personalized, evidence-based programs. These programs address not only the physical aspects of weight loss but also the emotional and mental challenges that often accompany the fertility journey.
Dr. Crespo-Smith is a board-certified Family Practice Physician focusing on Women's Health, with additional certification and experience in weight loss and fertility. She also has a strong interest polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hormone imbalances, and the implementation of lifestyle changes to aid fertility. She is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), and the Florida Society of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility (FSREI).
